Introduction

A global pharmaceutical company is developing a new injection device as part of a highly ambitious R&D program involving novel technical solutions and strict regulatory requirements. After 8 years IPU is continuously contributing with experienced external specialists who have become an integrated part of the client’s development organization - while retaining access to a broad technical backend at IPU. This combination of close project involvement and rapid access to cross disciplinary expertise has made it possible to clarify technical risks early and maintain momentum in a complex R&D process.

The mission

The client is facing an ambitious R&D project involving multiple technical challenges and highly complex solutions. The project includes new mechanical principles, new materials and new performance requirements that cannot be addressed through existing standards, tests, or suppliers. At the same time, the organization is challenged by: - Limited R&D resources - Multiple parallel development tracks - Tight timelines - Heavy procurement and decision-making processes - Limited capacity to pursue technically complex “unknowns” This creates a need for resources that can both work deeply inside the project and take ownership of technical aspects of critical character.

IPUs involvement in the project

IPU provides external specialists who work fully embedded at the client site and are engaged seamlessly as part of the core development team. At the same time, the external specialists act as a bridge to IPU’s broader technical organisation and DTU when needed. IPU delivers
